This seminar will be devoted to learning the basic definitions needed to be able to have a cogent discussion on the issue of racism.  This seminar is not a training on dismantling racism but is designed to help identify the great disparity between words used in day to day language that are often used in conflicting and confusing ways.

This seminar will be a participatory experience where participants will be asked to share one or more experiences from their life when they felt the impact of either racism or privilege.  These experiences will be cross shared following a one on one exchange of information giving and receiving.

As a follow up to her presentation last year about eating lower on the food chain, Lisa Hummel will share recipes and other ideas for cooking and serving food this Thanksgiving that is easier on the environment. This will include vegetarian versions of traditional Thanksgiving foods as well as a discussion of using organic and locally grown food. Let our holiday celebrations reflect our thankfulness for God's whole creation.

Family Christmas Memories

Intergenerational

Participants will be asked in advance to prepare a family Christmas story for presentation at the adult education program.  The approach to the story and the media to be used is completely at the discretion of the participants.  All are invited to participate so stories should be limited in time and scope to fit in the time allotted for the usual adult education program.  This is an inter-generational program and participants of all ages are invited to attend.  Distribution of gift items for the young at heart participants is encouraged.
